Post Oak's New Restaurants Are Moving Into the Office Towers. Here's What's Actually Open This Fall.

Post Oak's New Restaurants Are Moving Into the Office Towers. Here's What's Actually Open This Fall.

Two new dining rooms opened on the Post Oak corridor between August 5 and September 14, 2026, and both are inside towers. The Audrey opened on the ground floor of the Aspire Post Oak high-rise. Mack Allen's opened in the 5POP office tower. Just up the boulevard, Central Park Post Oak has the longest list of announced restaurants in Uptown, and the developer's own site still lists every one of them as coming soon, even though Houstonia reports that Handies Douzo has opened. The developer ties the opening dates to the progress of the campus, and The Henry has already moved from fall 2026 to 2027.

Uptown's next round of dining is going into the ground floors of buildings that were planned around offices and high-rise living. That explains the hours the new places keep, and it explains why the announced list grows faster than the open list.

Two dining rooms that arrived with their buildings

The Audrey opened August 5, 2026, at 1616 Post Oak Boulevard. Culinary Khancepts built it inside Aspire Post Oak after its first location in The Woodlands did well. The room covers 5,480 square feet and seats 163 guests. It includes a semi-private lounge, a private dining room called the Secret Garden and a patio that faces Post Oak Boulevard. In the August 14 announcement from Visit Houston, the restaurant pitches itself for power lunches, happy hours and weekend brunch. It also names neighborhood residents and business professionals in the same sentence.

Mack Allen's had its grand opening September 14 at 4400 Post Oak Parkway, according to Community Impact. It is the first fine-dining project from Mack McDonald, who ran the Rouxpour brand for more than 15 years. The restaurant fills 16,000 square feet of the 5POP office tower. That includes a 2,000-square-foot lobby lounge that can host its own events and a 14-seat private room with its own wet bar, fireplace and entrance.

Mack Allen's hours follow the office week. OpenTable lists lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner runs Monday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. So lunch is weekdays only, and on Saturday the doors open at dinner. If you're planning a weekend meal there, book an evening.

The campus where restaurants wait on construction

Central Park Post Oak is a 17-acre redevelopment of the old Post Oak Central office campus, just north of The Galleria and south of San Felipe. Philip Johnson designed the original campus in the 1970s as his first Houston project for Gerald D. Hines Interests. The plan calls for 1.2 million square feet of Class A office space across three towers, more than 150,000 square feet of retail, dining and lifestyle space, and a programmed green space at the center. The developer says the first retail buildings along Post Oak Boulevard begin delivering in fall 2026.

The office side is moving faster than the restaurants. Since the redevelopment was announced in summer 2025, office leasing commitments have passed 280,000 square feet, according to a September 28 report from Realty News Report. TDECU's roughly 125,000-square-foot headquarters space in Central Park One is part of that total. Clayton Freels, executive vice president at Midway, described who the restaurants are meant to serve:

"Paired with Little Ruby's all-day dining concept, these additions round out the everyday experience we want office tenants to have here, from an early workout to dinner with colleagues."

Here is where each announced restaurant stands as of September 30, 2026:

Concept Address or location Stated timing
Handies Douzo 2000 Post Oak Blvd., Suite 130 Late 2026 target
The Henry 1990 Post Oak Blvd. 2027, moved from fall 2026
Sparrow Italia Central Park Post Oak 2027
Buck & Rider 1980 Post Oak Blvd. Late 2027
Little Ruby's 3,500 sq ft, address not yet published Lease signed, no date
Élephante 11,200 sq ft, Phase 2 Phase 2 groundbreaking targeted by end of 2026
Bar Bambino 2,000 sq ft, Phase 2 Phase 2 groundbreaking targeted by end of 2026

Élephante, Bar Bambino and Little Ruby's all come from Wish You Were Here Group, a Los Angeles company. Little Ruby's started in New York's SoHo in 2002 and recently opened in Dallas. Founder Nick Mathers called Ruby's "a true neighborhood restaurant, a place you can go for breakfast, lunch or dinner." The green space at the center of the campus is part of the same Phase 2. Its groundbreaking is targeted for the end of 2026, so the park is not open yet.

The parts of the campus that are open today are for fitness. Midway lists TruFusion and an on-site fitness center as existing amenities. ONESWEAT, a Houston fitness studio founded in 2018, has signed for 3,000 square feet at the base of Central Park One.

Why Handies Douzo's status depends on who you ask

Handies Douzo is the hand-roll bar from Duckstache Hospitality, the group behind Kokoro, Doko, Bar Doko and Aiko. In a March 5, 2026, announcement, the developer called it the first planned dining opening at Central Park Post Oak and gave a late 2026 target. Houstonia's September 2026 openings roundup says the Central Park Post Oak location "recently opened." It also says two more locations are coming, one in West University off Bellaire Boulevard and one in EaDo. The developer's site still shows Handies Douzo under "Curated Concepts, Coming Soon," marked 2026.

Of all the restaurants on the campus, Handies is the one most likely to open this fall. Before you drive over for hand rolls, check its own channels to see whether it's serving yet.

The Westheimer side of the map

The fall openings along Westheimer fit a different pattern. They are going into retail spaces built for shoppers.

Trill Burgers opened its fourth Houston-area restaurant on Friday, September 25, at 7616 Westheimer Road, just west of The Galleria. Starting in October, the drive-thru stays open until 3 a.m. Fridays through Sundays, according to KPRC. That makes it the opposite of Mack Allen's, which serves weekday lunches.

Inside The Galleria at 5085 Westheimer, Meta opened its first Texas Meta Lab on September 10. The store has hands-on demos of its AI glasses and VR headsets. The mall's homepage also lists Abercrombie & Fitch, Abercrombie Kids and Princess Polly as "Now Open." In June, Community Impact listed a Google Store and Timberland among stores expected at The Galleria. Neither one shows up in the mall's current "Now Open" list.

What's on the Uptown calendar in October

Uptown's longtime public spaces are still running their regular schedules this fall, with a few dates worth knowing:

  • Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, 2800 Post Oak Boulevard, is free and open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Waterwall itself will be turned off for maintenance from Monday, October 5, through Sunday, October 18, 2026. Uptown Houston recommends the Williams Tower Visitor Parking Garage as the closest parking.
  • Uptown Park's early-October calendar includes live music at The Rustic, Elizabeth Anthony trunk shows and a Postino happy hour, plus The Rustic's Jam & Toast Brunch on the first weekend of the month.
  • The holiday trees on Post Oak. In 2023, Uptown Houston announced that the formal Uptown Holiday Lighting event "will no longer occur." The lit trees along Post Oak Boulevard continued as a seasonal display, and in 2023 the district promoted 300 holiday trees and an app that plays music synced to the lights. We found no 2026 schedule for the display, so check with Uptown Houston as the holidays get closer.

For an October evening in Uptown, you could stop at Waterwall Park after October 18, when the fountain is back on, then have dinner on The Audrey's patio, which faces the boulevard. Or try the Mack Allen's courtyard, where a 10-foot fire-and-water feature sits under an arbor surrounded by star jasmine and Japanese maples.

Uptown's new restaurants are opening on the same schedules as the towers they sit in, and the Post Oak corridor will keep changing as more of those buildings open.
